Kroger joins CVS, Walgreens in limiting sale of children's meds
Pharmacy chains including CVS, Walgreens and Kroger are limiting the sale of popular childrenโs medicines as pharmacies struggle to keep up with the tripledemic. A Texas Department of State Health Services dashboard, updated Monday afternoon, shows just 42 available, staffed pediatric ICU beds across the state. In San Antonioโs region, which covers nearly 2.9 million people and stretches to the Mexican border, there were only nine available.
Health official urges precaution against rising infections ahead of Thanksgiving
But with the triple threat of COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus โ known as RSV โ and influenza driving up infections this season, there are some suggested precautions people can take. โPeople come inside and congregate indoors.โBratzler noted there has been a โfairly substantialโ increase in cases of upper respiratory diseases. In Hidalgo County, three residents died due to COVID-related complications, the county reported this week. Hidalgo County also reported 342 new cases this week, including 121 confirmed and 225 probable cases. County officials, though, reported 208 new cases this week which included 71 confirmed cases and 137 probable cases.
