SAN ANTONIO – A two-year-old girl was taken to an area hospital after she was injured in a hit-and-run accident on the city's Southeast Side, San Antonio police said Monday.
According to police, the child was playing in the road unsupervised and alone around 7:30 p.m. when an unknown vehicle traveling westbound in the 2200 block of Hicks Avenue struck her.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop, render any aid, or provide any identifying information, police said. Officials said it is unknown how long the child was in the roadway before and after the crash.
The girl, who name and age are not presently known, was transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries by EMS.
Police said when the driver of the unknown vehicle is identified they will face a charge of Fail to Stop and Render Aid.
