NEAT program aims to make neighborhoods safer, cleaner, healthier

NEAT Sweep kicks off Thursday in Denver Heights, Alamodome Gardens neighborhoods

SAN ANTONIO – Creating safer, cleaner and healthier communities is the city's goal for two east side neighborhoods.

NEAT Sweep kicked off Thursday in Denver Heights and Alamodome Gardens neighborhoods. NEAT stands for neighborhood empowerment action team. It's a 30-day program that will focus on bringing coordinated services to the area.

Metro Health was on-site Thursday providing residents with flu shots. Animal care services also provided microchips for pets.

To learn more about the program visit the city's command center at the Davis Scott YMCA. The program runs through May 20.
