SAN ANTONIO – An East side woman accused of punching her daughter and causing internal injuries is expecting another child.
A spokeswoman with Child Protective Services has confirmed that Jennifer Alfaro, 24, is pregnant. Police arrested Alfaro Tuesday on a charge of injury to a child after they said she admitted to punching her preschool age daughter in the stomach several times.

The arrest affidavit shows investigators became involved in the case Tuesday after Alfaro brought her three and a half year old daughter, Alesha, to University Hospital. Police said the child was found to be suffering from a severed colon, ruptured small intestine and infection resulting from the injuries.
In the affidavit, police said Alfaro told hospital staff at first that Alesha had been injured by a dresser that fell on her the previous day.
However, they said after a relative disputed that story, Alfaro admitted that she had punched the girl while she was "irate" due to a fight with her husband.
Neighbors along Porter Street didn't seem to know much about the family. They said Alfaro and her children had moved into the home only about a month ago.
They did report, though, that the injured girl was one of several children living in the home.
CPS spokeswoman Mary Walker confirmed that, in addition to Alesha, three children have been taken into custody by the agency. She said they include Alesha's twin as well as a five year old and one year old sibling.
Walker said Alesha remains in the hospital.
An unidentified relative of the family, when reached at his home, declined to comment on details of the case. But he said his "primary concern" is the child--whom he referred to as his granddaughter-- and that he planned to hire an attorney.
