Police catch suspected illegal immigrant during chase

SAN ANTONIO – A suspected illegal immigrant was arrested early Monday morning after he nearly hit a patrol car and led police on a short chase.

Police said the 19-year-old driver had gotten into a fight with his significant other and took off from his home in a pickup truck.

The man, who was driving erratically, nearly hit an officer's patrol car, and that's when the chase began, police said.

The man drove into a driveway at North Calaveras and Waverly, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Police said he will be charged with evading arrest and deadly conduct on a police officer. Investigators also said the the man may also be deported.
