Woman arrested in check forgery case

Terri Martinez charged with elderly fraud

SAN ANTONIO – Police arrested a woman accused of forging checks that belonged to a 79-year-old woman.
Terri Martinez, 26, is charged with elderly fraud.

According to the affidavit, police found out about the forgery from the son of the victim.

He noticed more than $7,500 missing from a checking account he shared with his mother, the affidavit stated. Police said he also noticed an entire check book was missing.

The man reported it to police and investigators discovered the signature on some of those missing checks had been forged.

Police said several of the checks were used to pay the note on a car Martinez bought along with the victim's grandson, the affidavit stated. Martinez was arrested Thursday.
