Jury finds Lorenzo Thompson guilty in fatal purse-snatching case Airman Vanessa Pitts died after falling from truck No description found
SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio jury on Thursday found Lorenzo Thompson guilty in the death of an airman whose purse he snatched at a service station at Highway 90 West and Military Drive on April 12, 2010.
Airman Vanessa Pitts was refueling her car at the gas station, died after falling from a truck driven by Lorenzo Thompson.
Thompson, 32, had just taken Pitts' purse and was speeding off, according to prosecutors.
Pitts jumped onto the fleeing truck but fell onto the roadway a few blocks away.
The jury deliberated for about three hours.
Thompson will be sentenced to life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
