NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – New Braunfels police have released the name of a woman who was struck and killed Wednesday morning on the northbound lanes of Interstate 35.
Investigators said the body of 30-year-old Jessica Rae Hartman was found on the shoulder of Interstate 35 just north of the Kohlenberg Road overpass.

A Comal County Sheriff's deputy discovered her body around 7 a.m. and notified New Braunfels police.
Police believe she was the victim of a hit-and-run. Police said Hartman was not carrying any identification at the time and they are not sure why she was on the interstate.
A New Braunfels police press release stated detectives were able to determine Hartman's identity after checking her fingerprints through the FBI's Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System. Her next of kin is in Louisiana.
