Small fire forces evacuation at Riverwalk Plaza Hotel Fire damages Riverwalk Plaza Hotel, no injuries reported
Guests at a downtown hotel were evacuated early Thursday morning because of a small fire.
The fire broke out around 2 a.m. in the 100 block of Villita Road at the Riverwalk Plaza Hotel.
Fire officials responded, but said the fire had been extinguished by the time they arrived.
Officials believe the fire was started by a candle left burning.
More than 100 guests were evacuated for about an hour from the hotel because of heavy smoke.
No injuries were reported and damage estimates were unknown.
