SAN ANTONIO – Former Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector Sylvia Romo announced Tuesday that she will run for the vacant Texas Senate District 26 seat.

"I am truly humbled by the bipartisan support from our community that has encouraged me to run for state senator," Romo said in a prepared statement. A special election for the seat will be held Jan. 6.
