Armed man wanted in Schertz bank robbery

SCHERTZ, Texas – Schertz police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who they said robbed a bank there Monday.

According to Schertz police officials, the man robbed the IBC bank in the 3800 block of FM 3009 just before 5 p.m.

Investigators said it appeared that he was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

According to surveillance video, police said, the man waited for the clerk to open her money drawer and jumped over the counter to reach into the drawer to take cash. He fled with close to $3,000 in a red, four-door vehicle, police said.

The suspect is described as being a black male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, black hooded jacket, jeans and white tennis shoes. He had a mustache and witnesses told police that he may have had a small goatee not connected to his mustache.
