SAN ANTONIO – Tommy Adkisson announced his bid for San Antonio mayor Wednesday at City Hall.
Adkisson spent 16 years as a Bexar County Commissioner in Precinct 4 and four years as a member of the Texas House of Representatives.
He said his experience can help enhance the city in a significant way.
If elected Adkisson would be the first elected mayor of San Antonio from the South Side in more than 100 years.
Adkisson said one the thing he wants to focus on is fixing neighborhoods.
We need to realize that we're all in this together and if one neighborhood declines, then we all decline," Adkisson said. "And that's something we want to fight against."
Seven other candidates have filed with the City Clerk's office to run for mayor:
Paul Martinez, Gerard Ponce, Pogo Mochello Reese, Rhett Smith, Leticia Van de Putte, Mike Villarreal, and Raymond Zavala.
