SAN ANTONIO – A 31-year-old man admitted to robbing three local motels and said he did it because he was homeless and hungry, according to San Antonio police.
Terrell Savala was arrested Thursday on a charge of aggravated robbery.
In an arrest affidavit, police said they were called to the first motel, La Quinta Inn & Suites near Interstate 10 and Foster Road, on Jan. 14.
Investigators said the clerk told then that a man with a ski mask pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register, giving her 30 seconds to turn it over, the affidavit stated.
They said two other motels were robbed in the same fashion within the next few days.
The affidavit stated that detectives found fingerprints at the scene of one of the robberies.
In the meantime, Savala was arrested in connection with an unrelated crime.
Police said during questioning Savala admitted to committing the robberies and said he did it because he was "homeless and hungry."
