Teen killed after truck plunges off overpass identified

Victim identified as 18-year-old Jocelyn Markham

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a teenage girl killed in a crash off the Highway 281 overpass.

According to a preliminary SAPD report, 18-year-old Jocelyn Markham was driving a 2003 Ford F250 pickup truck southbound on Highway 281 near Basse Road when it suddenly veered to the left.

Markham over corrected and struck the outside concrete retaining wall.

The truck then went over the wall and fell off the bridge, landing upside down in dry Olmos Creek below the highway.

Markham was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A passenger, identified as 21-year-old Neomi Markham, a sister of the driver, had to be extricated from the truck and was transported to University Hospital in critical condition.

The report stated alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
