Local chefs compete in 6th Annual Paella Challenge

Over 30 chefs square off in competition at the Pearl

SAN ANTONIO – The Pearl was busy Sunday as over 30 local chefs took part in the 6th Annual Paella Challenge.

Guests joined fellow foodies for an afternoon of food and live entertainment.

Paella is a Spanish dish of rice, chicken and seafood.

Celebrity chefs and high school teams went head-to-head to create the most impressive dish.

"We're really out here for the kids. It's a great cause for donations for the high school kids and culinary departments doing big things for them. They're really big supporters for that," Victoria Country Club Chef James Foote said.

Steele High School took home top honors in the high school competition.

The winner of the professional competition was David Gilbert from Tuk Tuk Taproom.
