SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County Sheriff's detectives have arrested Jonathan Geryk, 24, after sheriff's officials said he confessed to strangling his wife inside their townhome.
Sheriff's spokesman James Keith said Geryk walked into the San Antonio Police Department's substation on Prue Road around midnight and told officers that he had just killed his wife.
He said Geryk was in the company of a relative who had persuaded him to turn himself in after Geryk showed up at his home.
Keith said after realizing the couple's home, located near Loop 1604 and Military Drive, was outside the city limits, police then notified the sheriff's office.
"Deputies forced entry inside the home," he said. "She was found in the bedroom. She was found on the bed and it was obvious that she had been strangled."
Keith identified the dead woman as Katrina Geryk, also 24.
He said it appears the couple's two young children were in the home at the time. However, it's unclear whether they witnessed the crime.
Detectives spent most of the morning searching the two-story unit at the Townhomes at West Creek. They also questioned the suspect, but Keith said many questions remain.
"We don't know a motive. We don't know what was going through his head or what he may have been thinking whenever he did this," he said.
