SAN ANTONIO, TX – Melissa Gutierrez, 30, is facing a charge of credit card abuse after allegedly confessing to the crime. San Antonio police said she admitted to it after seeing surveillance photos of herself caught in the act.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that a 54-year-old man filed a report with police in February, saying that he had been robbed at gunpoint. The man told officers he had given a ride to a woman who flagged him down on South Presa near Military Drive.

The affidavit stated that soon after the man noticed a car was following him, the vehicle pulled in front and blocked him. He told police two men got out of the vehicle and robbed him at gunpoint, stealing his wallet with his credit cards inside.

The woman who asked for the ride was working with the robbers, the affidavit stated.

Police said they later obtained surveillance photos from a gas station in the 2000 block of Goliad Road, and they show a woman using one of the stolen credit cards.

According to the affidavit, after police aired those photos on television during a Crime Stoppers segment, they received a tip identifying Gutierrez as the woman using the stolen card.

Detectives said during questioning, they showed Gutierrez  and she admitted she is the woman who was caught on camera.
