Man in critical condition after being shot in abdomen

Shooting was reported around 4 a.m. in 1100 block of N. Sabinas St.

SAN ANTONIO – A man is in critical condition at a local hospital Thursday morning following a shooting on the city's near West Side, San Antonio police said.

The shooting was reported around 4 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Sabinas Street, not far from Delgado Street and North Navidad Street.

Police said when arrived they found a 46-year-old man shot in the left abdomen inside a home in what appears to be a drug-related incident.

Four people were home at the time, police said. A witness said three masked men barged into the home and simply shot the man. That same witness told police the men did not make any demands or take any items.

Authorities at the scene said they have answered calls at the home previously, including a recent drug overdose there. Police said they also in the past have received a call for a woman who lived there walking the street naked.

So far no arrests have been made in the case.

The name of the victim has yet to be released.

The investigation into the crime is ongoing.
