Bexar County Jail inmate commits suicide, officials say
Man was housed in general population unit
No description foundSAN ANTONIO – An inmate at the Bexar County Jail on Tuesday committed suicide, sheriff's officials said.
A detention officer discovered the inmate around 10 a.m., Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rosanne Hughes said.
Emergency medical personnel tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the man. He was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later, Hughes said.
The inmate was housed in a general population unit and housed with a cellmate, but was alone when the suicide happened, Hughes said.
The victim has not been identified.
