Man arrested after posing as bar security guard, firing weapon

Charles Mayah, 30, is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a man the say shot at someone while posing as a security guard at a local sports bar.

According to an arrest affidavit the police were investigating an aggravated assault case that took place at the 210 Sports Bar and Cantina back on July 11.

During the investigation police said they found that Charles Mayah, 30, who was working as an armed security guard, had fired his weapon at a bar patron who he says shot at him first. 

The police arranged a meeting with him later so that he could speak to them about the incident and show his credentials but he would not cooperate, according to the affidavit. 

Detectives investigated and said they found out that Mayah is not a licensed security guard with the state and not permitted to carry a gun on licensed premises.

It says police also found out that he is not an employee of the company that provides security for the bar.

Mayah is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon without a license, a 3rd degree felony.
