7-year-old said to be doing 'fine,' receiving counseling

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Police in San Marcos have released the sketch of a man, who kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 7-year old girl on Aug. 29.

"The only age range we could come up with is anything between 17-40 years of age. He had short spiky hair and a definitive beard, a short black beard," said San Marcos police Detective Tommy Villanueva.

The victim told police that she was outside her apartment complex around 6:30 p.m., when a white car pulled up.

"Again, it's a 7-year-old child, so getting facts and information is a little bit tough," Villanueva said.

Police said the man asked for help because his back was hurt. He then pulled her into the car and took off.

"If he was brave enough to do it in a close-knit environment, where the little girl lives, he's liable to do it anywhere," Villanueva said.

According to police the suspect drove to a nearby parking lot, where he exposed himself and sexually assaulted her.

The girl then walked home in the rain and told her mother what happened.

"She's fine, physically. She's doing some counseling but everything is going good right now," said Villanueva.

Police said the car the man was driving looked like a white Hyundai Elantra.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact the San Marcos Police Department at 512-753-2300 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays or 512-753-2108 after hours. Tips can be made to citizenobserver.com or to Hays County Crime Stoppers.
