Reforming Texas foster care system top priority for senator

SAN ANTONIO – Sen. Carlos Uresti has had an illustrious career in the military and Texas politics. Uresti's district spans some 35,000 square miles across multiple counties, representing 800,000 people.

Uresti graduated from McCollum High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves. He eventually received his law degree from St. Mary's University, and ran in a House of Representatives special election in 1997 that began his 20-year span of public service at the state level.

He said he is focused on foster care reform in Texas during the 85th Texas Legislative session.
