SAN ANTONIO – Antonio Antoine Brown, 41, is facing a murder charge stemming from the shooting death of a man in his own Southeast Side driveway.
John Harmon, 61, was found outside his home in the 400 block of Nash on December 30. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, he had suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and back.
The affidavit said that Harmon's nephew told San Antonio police that he arrived at the home shortly before the shooting and noticed a vehicle pull up behind his. He said that a man who he didn't know approached him with a gun and made demands.
Police believe Harmon saw what was happening, grabbed his own gun and ran outside to help his nephew.
The affidavit said that he and Brown then exchanged gunfire with Harmon dying from his wounds.
Officers found Brown, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face, in a car that matched the description of one seen leaving the scene.
He was taken to a hospital for treatment and has been in police custody since then.
The murder charge officially was filed against Brown Tuesday.
According to the affidavit, Brown also had a warrant out for his arrest related to a separate kidnapping in San Marcos.
In that case, he's accused of pointing a gun at a female employee of a local car dealership and ordering her to drive to a secluded area.
The affidavit said that he then ordered that woman to take off her clothes, but she was able to escape and call for help before she was assaulted.
