Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting, BCSO says

Alex Ortiz arrested for homicide of Mark Hughes, deputies say

SAN ANTONIO – A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in March, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, arrested Alex Ortiz for the homicide of Mark Hughes, 29.

Hughes was found shot on March 29 in the 6700 block of Walzem Road in Bexar County, the Sheriff's Office said. He was taken to the San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he died.

The Sheriff's Office said Ortiz was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday off the 2000 block of Dollarhide Avenue in San Antonio.

No other details were given.
