Argument over woman triggers shooting at house party on NW Side

Incident occurred just before 4 a.m. in 5700 block of Gomer Pyle

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his 20s was critically wounded in a shooting during an argument over a woman at a party early Friday on the city's Northwest Side, San Antonio police said.

The shooting was reported around 3:45 a.m. in the 5700 block of Gomer Pyle, where the victim was shot in the leg, police said.

The shooter took off with a man in a car, which police located. They found the driver, but not the suspect.

Sherry Haglund, who lives next door to the home where the shooting occurred, said a violent incident was a long time coming.

"All the drinking and carrying on over here, I figured at some point there'd be a row, but I'd never imagine a shooting. Maybe fights or something, because of people in and out all the time," she said.

Haglund said she wants the problems to stop.

"I think they need to find another place to live. It's just too much commotion for a neighborhood. There aren't a lot of children in the area, it's a lot of elderly people, and it's just a lot of commotion. There's always something," she said.
