‘Perfect’ Boerne property hits the market at undisclosed price

Pool, 360-degree views of Hill Country among features

SAN ANTONIO – A historic, luxury Boerne property described as “perfect” and “almost indestructible” has hit the market.

Part of the Sisterdale settlement, Sisterdale Farms exhibits the culture and style of the Hill Country with its mix of new and historic structures.

Real estate agent Michael Schultz said the main home, guest house, three-car garage and horse stables were finished in 2015, while a cluster of structures on the 310-acre property date back to the mid-19th century.

The price of the property has not been disclosed to the public.

The current owners bought the property in 2012 and immediately planned construction for the new structures, Schultz said.

San Antonio architect Don McDonald used local artisans, stone masons, wood and metal workers to “replicate the Hill Country style of old,” according to a news release.

The rock and brick structure makes it “almost indestructible,” Schultz said. “The quality with the design with the decor, everything in it is perfect.”

The main home stretches 11,302 square feet and includes five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two partial bathrooms, according to its listing.

A pool, jacuzzi, outdoor living space, floor-to-ceiling windows and library are among its features, as well as the Guadalupe River snaking through the property.

The new structures are a modern reflection of the original homestead built in the 1840s after Baron Ottomar von Behr settled there.

Behr is said to have named the settlement Sisterdale, according to the Texas State Historical Association. It was an “important stop” on the Pinta Trail from Fredericksburg to San Antonio.

The property is about 10 miles north of downtown Boerne.

Schultz said about 10 vintage structures sit further down a hill from the new house.

The original homestead was also renovated and “brought back to life” with a new gourmet kitchen and a laundry room.

To showcase the property, Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty hosted an event on Oct. 19 that included guests test driving Lamborghini Urus.
