Brackenridge student hospitalized after campus assault

Students say injured classmate had seizure following hit

SAN ANTONIO – A Brackenridge High School student was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being punched in the face in the school hallway.

The assault was captured on cellphone video and posted to Facebook and YouTube. KSAT 12 viewed the video and decided against airing it due to its graphic nature.

The video shows the student being hit in the face and falling to the ground, where he was hit one more time and began having a seizure.

"EMS was called as was the parent, and the student was transported to the hospital and from what I understand he is still there," San Antonio ISD spokeswoman Leslie Price said.

The incident happened in the school hallway between classes.

"We have an environment where we have a lot of people out there watching the students during passing period, but this is something that happened very quickly," Price said.

Students who saw the assault said the student that was hit began to have a seizure and was foaming at the mouth.

Price said the student who hit the injured student left the campus but was later tracked down by district police. Price said he will be charged with aggravated assault.

Neither student involved in the incident has been identified.

District officials said the motive for the assault was over a girl.
