Kristina Carreon, 49, died while trying to answer knock on door

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of a woman who was shot and killed by someone who fired bullets through her front door.

Kristina Carreon, 49, was inside her apartment, located in the 2400 block of Pinn Road, when she was hit by bullets fired from outside, according to San Antonio police.

Officers who responded to a 911 call shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday said there were two other people inside the home at the time. They told officers they heard a knock at the door, then heard gunshots.

Police say Carreon was on her way to answer the door when she was hit by gunfire.

They were not able to say right away whether she was the shooter’s intended target, or if the bullets were meant for someone else.

In the daylight Wednesday, it appeared there were three bullet holes in the door of the home.

Police have not made any arrests so far.

Immediately after the shooting officers said they did not even have a description of the shooter.
