WATCH: Law enforcement shoots man who allegedly pointed gun at officers after chase on Southeast Side

SAPD: Officers attempted to arrest suspect on domestic violence warrant

One man is in custody after leading law enforcement in a chase that ended in a standoff with shots fired, according to San Antonio police.

The chase happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday after officers attempted to stop a man with a felony warrant for domestic violence, SAPD Chief William McManus said.

McManus said the suspect evaded police while a woman was inside the car with him. He is believed to be in his 40s.

After a chase, law enforcement officials tracked him down near Southcross Ranch Road, just east of Loop 410.

The woman was able to get out of the vehicle.

McManus said that’s when the suspect held a gun to his head and then pointed it at officers, prompting officers to open fire.

A KSAT 12 helicopter flying over the scene captured the moment gunfire hit the car in the video below.

Officers took the man into custody, and he was treated by paramedics on the scene.

SAPD said the man was talking when he was taken to the hospital.

It is not yet clear what charges the man will face.

The shooting happened on a residential street with homes nearby.

People who live in the neighborhood told KSAT that several roads were blocked off during the investigation.
