Man, 21, hospitalized with head injury after falling from River Walk bridge, SAPD says

Witnesses reported the man was heavily intoxicated before climbing and falling onto river level

SAN ANTONIO – A 21-year-old man is hospitalized with a serious head injury after “recklessly climbing” over a bridge railing near the River Walk and falling onto a river-level sidewalk, according to San Antonio police.

Police were called to the 500 block of River Walk around 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Witnesses reported seeing a heavily intoxicated man falling over the bridge railing, police said.

The man was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital with possible life-threatening head trauma, according to SAPD.
