SAISD names new head football coach at Sam Houston High School

Rashard Colquitt takes over as the school’s football coach and athletic coordinator next week

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) on Wednesday announced the hire of Rashard Colquitt to be the new head football coach and athletic coordinator at Sam Houston High School.

Most recently, Colquitt was the offensive coordinator at Aldine Nimitz High School in the Greater Houston area. Colquitt is a head football coach for the first time.

“I’m excited to be a part of the San Antonio ISD family,” Colquitt said in a news release. “I look forward to building relationships with everyone in the Sam Houston community, as well as the other coaches in our district.”

Colquitt has been coaching for 12 seasons, with stints at schools in Coldspring, Nacogdoches and Port Arthur before moving to Aldine.

“I am so proud to be named the head coach of the Sam Houston Hurricanes,” Colquitt continued. “My goal is to continue to build the program, not just a team, but a program that is successful year after year.”

Colquitt will start his new gigs on April 6.
