SAN ANTONIO – On the 16th anniversary of Sept. 11, thousands from across the nation took to social media to pay their respects and remember the lives that were lost during the deadly terrorist attacks on 9/11.
Hundreds of Americans also gathered around the Ground Zero Memorial where the Twin Towers once stood, memorializing 9/11 victims with roses, American flags and portraits Monday morning.

While many on social media used hash tags #NeverForget and #September11 to commemorate the 2,977 people killed and the thousands of others who were wounded when hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a field in Pennsylvania.

As America remembers the victims of Sept. 11, San Antonio officials, first responders, schools and average citizens also displayed their sympathy on Twitter and Facebook, voicing their unity to fight for a more loving world.
