These local lakes are being restocked with hundreds of catfish for fishing

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announced Tuesday that lakes that are part of its Neighborhood Fishin' initiative will be restocked with hundreds of catfish this week.

The program, which was created by TPWD to offer families in urban areas more outdoor experiences, includes Southside Lions Park and Millers Pond.

TPWD stopped restocking ponds and lakes in August due to the heat but resumed stocking in September. The bodies of water are restocked every two to four weeks.

Miller's Pond will be restocked Wednesday and Southside Lions Park will be restocked on Friday.

A fishing license is required for adults and can be purchased for as little as $11 for a one-day, all-water access license. Children under age 17 fish for free.
