SAN ANTONIO – A security guard and an employee of a Northwest Side Walmart are nursing stab wounds from an attack that San Antonio police say was unprovoked.
The attack happened around 5:30 a.m. Friday inside the store near Interstate 10 and Vance Jackson.
Angel Lace Rios has been taken into custody.
Sgt. Tim Esp with SAPD said a female employee was walking past Rios in the clothing area of the store when she allegedly approached her and cut her on the chin with a knife.
The employee called for help, and one of the people who came to her aid was a store security guard.
Esp said Rios then allegedly turned the knife on him, cutting him on the back of his neck and stabbing him under his chin.
The guard, who is an off-duty Floresville police officer, suffered a deep gash. Esp said he was take to University Hospital and is stable.
He said the employee suffered a superficial wound and did not need to be treated at a hospital.
Police said Rios was taken into custody at the scene.
John Navarro and his wife were shopping in that Walmart at the time and said they saw about 15 people piled on top of Rios, trying get her under control.
Navarro said it appeared that she was bloody but he wasn't sure if she suffered injuries or if it was from one of the victims.
