The San Antonio Humane Society’s $10 million expansion project includes the new Leeu Naylor Medical Building that opened in the middle of the pandemic in October. The much larger medical facility has many more holding stations, examining rooms and a rehabilitation room that includes a therapy pool.
San Antonio animal shelters will discount dog, cat adoptions for Valentine’s Day weekend
SAN ANTONIO – Looking for love in all the wrong places? Two San Antonio shelters, Animals Care Services and San Antonio Humane Society are offering pet adoptions at a discounted rate this Valentine’s Day. AdThose wishing to adopt an animal from ACS, located at 4710 State Highway 151, can make an appointment here. The San Antonio Humane Society, located at 4804 Fredericksburg Road, will have its no-contact adoption special from Wednesday through Tuesday. Potential adopters will still be screened by the Humane Society.
Live Oak selling street signs for $5
Live Oak residents who want a “piece of history” to call their own will be able to shell out a mere $5 to purchase street signs that are being replaced throughout the city. City Manager Scott Wayman said the new sign effort would replace all 500-600 street signs within city limits. He said the city’s public works department employees are handling the replacement in phases. “I think it’s very interesting about the selling of the street signs. I kind of concur with Councilman Morgan’s proposal.”The council unanimously approved the sale of street signs for the agreed-upon $5 per sign.mysanantonio.com
Shelter dogs in Dorian's path relocated inland
LANSING, Mich. - A Humane Society shelter in Michigan is doing its part in Hurricane relief by helping animals displaced by Dorian. 15 dogs from Florida were relocated in Lansing as part of a national effort to get the animals out of the path of the storm. Employees say these dogs are Florida shelter animals, so the dogs will be evaluated in Lansing and placed up for adoption. Obviously we help mostly animals in our community but sometimes the call comes in to do something more and we are happy to do it, said Julia Willson, the CEO and President of Capital Area Humane Shelter. Willson added that the dogs should be ready for adoption within the next week or so.
