An Alabama woman received a life sentence Wednesday for helping her husband plan the 2015 killings of his estranged pregnant wife, her unborn child and three others. Rhonda Carlson, 48, avoided the death penalty in a deal with prosecutors in exchange for testifying against her husband, Christopher Henderson, prior to his trial. Ex-officer sentenced to 25 years for killing suicidal man
A judge sentenced a former Alabama police officer to 25 years in prison Friday for the shooting death of a suicidal man who was holding a gun to his own head. Former Huntsville police officer William “Ben” Darby was convicted in May of killing Jeffrey Parker in 2018. Jurors recommended the death penalty on Tuesday for a man convicted of killing his wife, her unborn child and three other people in 2015 in a scheme with another woman to whom he was married. In-person visits in Texas prison system to resume next week
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Inmates in all Texas prisons and state jails will be allowed to resume in-person visits on Monday, March 15, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. All in-person visits were halted when the coronavirus pandemic swept the state last spring. All visits must be scheduled in advance, and inmates will be allowed only two visits per month. When asked whether inmates in the Bexar County Jail would be allowed in-person visits, Sheriff Javier Salazar said, “We haven’t really done in-person visits in several years.”Instead, he said, inmates will be allowed to continue remote video visits through a system upgraded during the pandemic. AdHe said the sheriff’s office has also provided just over 660,000 free phone calls from inmates during the pandemic.
Inspector general reviews Trump relocation of Space Command

The Space Command differs from the U.S. Space Force, launched in December 2019 as the first new military service since the Air Force was created in 1947. SAN ANTONIO – Multiple news outlets in Alabama are reporting that Redstone Army Airfield near Huntsville, Alabama, has been chosen as the site for the U.S. Space Command headquarters. Port San Antonio had been on the shortlist along with Colorado Springs, Colorado; Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico; Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska; and Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. 5,000 Rockets Launched to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Mission to Space
Five thousand rockets were launched into the air Wednesday, not only to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing but also to set a Guinness World Record. Astronauts, NASA engineers and eager young campers witnessed the event organized by the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, a city dedicated to space exploration. The previous record was set in November 2018, when 4,231 model rockets were launched during a European Space Science Convention held in the Netherlands.
