SXSW says it will return to in-person events in 2022, announces dates
On the heels of its virtual 2021 conference, South by Southwest is saying it will return to in-person events in 2022. SXSW said next yearโs interactive, music and film festival will take place March 11-20 in Austin. Greg Abbottโs vow to โopen Texas 100%โ by March 10, this yearโs festival did not take place among the streets of Austin. Before it was officially axed, high-profile companies like Netflix, Twitter and TikTok had already begun pulling out of the music and arts festival. Another major Austin event, the Austin City Limits music festival, is slated to take place in person on Oct. 1-3 and Oct. 8-10 at Zilker Park.
Thousands sign petition to cancel the Houston Rodeo amid growing coronavirus concerns
HOUSTON โ A few thousand people have signed an online petition calling for the cancellation of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo amid the coronavirus outbreak. Dubbed as the largest rodeo in the world, Houston Rodeo attracts millions of people to NRG Park. However, attendance is down compared to previous years, according to the Houston Rodeo data. Despite rising concerns of the coronavirus, Houston Rodeo and local officials said there are no such plans to cancel the festival at this time. โWe are continuing to monitor the situation and collaborate daily with Harris County and City of Houston officials, and the Houston Health Department.โ
