therivardreport.comWhat happens if no Democratic candidate earns enough delegates for a nomination?
Even if one candidate has more delegates than the other, that’s only a “plurality,” not a majority, per party rules. Candidates who earned delegates, but have since dropped out of the race, can try to push their delegates onto another candidate. A candidate needs to earn 2,375 delegates on subsequent ballots to win the nomination. However, having a contested convention is something the Democratic National Committee will do its best to avoid in the coming months. The last time a contested convention occurred was in 1952.

Health-care stocks are surging after former Vice President Joe Biden's Super Tuesday performance put at ease investors who had been anxious about the possibility of Sen. Bernie Sanders winning the Democratic presidential nomination. That's great news for one options trader, who made a big bet on UnitedHealth snapping out of its recent run of losses. UnitedHealth was staring at losses of nearly 5% in Tuesday's session but shot higher in after-hours trading as Super Tuesday results showing a strong performance from Biden started rolling in. That is a development that will have both this trader and the health-care space as a whole breathing a sigh of relief. "The managed care space is one of the areas in the market that have been concerned about the election, and specifically those that are talking about socialized health care," said Khouw.

A BIDEN COALITIONIt appeared clear early on that Biden benefited from the last-minute endorsements from former presidential contenders Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar. North Carolina and Virginia were called for Biden immediately when polls closed, with exit polls suggesting Biden was headed for decisive wins.
