The lawyer for the families of the three people former Wauwatosa police officer Joseph Mensah shot and killed has filed a federal lawsuit against Mensah and others in connection with one of the deaths. Attorney Kimberley Motley said she wants to know more about the 2015 fatal shooting of Antonio Gonzales. Five people died, including a woman who was shot by a police officer inside the Capitol. Another officer eventually spotted Khater deploying the substance and sprayed Khater himself, authorities said. Sicknick died after defending the Capitol against the mob that stormed the building as Congress was voting to certify Joe Biden’s electoral win over Donald Trump.

Officials are still trying to figure out if any family members who lived in the home helped Sijifredo Montemayor escape to Mexico.

Also in attendance was Wenling Chestnut, widow of slain Capitol Police Officer Jacob Chestnut, one of two Capitol Police officers killed by a gunman in 1998. Chestnut and the other officer who was killed, John Gibson, also lay in honor after their deaths.

Retired Houston police officer fatally shot by neighbor in Kerr County, sheriff’s office says
The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what led up to the fatal shooting of a retired Houston police officer who lives in a gated Kerr County neighborhood. At the scene, deputies found Mart Hanna, the 68-year-old retired police officer, who was fatally shot. The man who shot him was identified as Kenneth Brown, a 71-year-old retired U.S. Customs Officer, according to the news release. The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office has called in the Texas Rangers to assist in the investigation. No arrests were made in the case on Monday and the investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio police officer who was speeding at 100 miles per hour and swerving on Loop 410 has been charged with driving while intoxicated, according to authorities. SAPD officials said Officer Rafael Hernandez III, 26, was arrested around 3 a.m. Thursday after he was pulled over and given a DWI evaluation. The officer who pulled Hernandez over “determined that Hernandez was impaired” and placed him under arrest, according to a news release. Hernandez will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. Officer Rafael Hernandez III was arrested on a DWI charge on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020, according to SAPD.

(CNN) -- Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin could receive more than $1 million in pension benefits during his retirement years even if he is convicted of killing George Floyd. He was quickly fired from the department where he had worked since 2001, and amid national protests, was eventually charged with second-degree murder. The benefits could stretch to $1.5 million or more over a 30-year period, not including any cost of living increases. Two of the other officers charged in the death of Floyd were rookies, but a third also appears eligible to receive pension benefits from his time with the department, according to employment records released by the city. "Pension forfeiture for misconduct is pretty rare," said D. Bruce Johnsen, a law professor at George Mason University and one of the authors of the research.
