SXSW says it will return to in-person events in 2022, announces dates
On the heels of its virtual 2021 conference, South by Southwest is saying it will return to in-person events in 2022. SXSW said next yearโs interactive, music and film festival will take place March 11-20 in Austin. Greg Abbottโs vow to โopen Texas 100%โ by March 10, this yearโs festival did not take place among the streets of Austin. Before it was officially axed, high-profile companies like Netflix, Twitter and TikTok had already begun pulling out of the music and arts festival. Another major Austin event, the Austin City Limits music festival, is slated to take place in person on Oct. 1-3 and Oct. 8-10 at Zilker Park.
Stream SXSW 2020 film festival on Amazon Prime
โ The 2020 SXSW festival was canceled this year due to the coronavirus outbreak sweeping the country, but the organizers are still thinking of ways to let fans experience SXSW while quarantining at home. SXSW announced it will have films that were meant to premiere at the film festival available to stream for 10 days only on Amazon Prime. Filmmakers who chose to have their film participate in the virtual film festival will receive a screening fee for streaming their film over the 10-day period. There is no definite date on when the film festival will start, but the organizers said it will most likely be in April. Coronavirus has halted these concerts, festivals and movie premieres
