SAN ANTONIO – For the sixth straight year, University Hospital has been named one of “America’s best” by U.S. News & World Report.
The hospital was ranked sixth in the state and in the top 50 in the country for kidney disease and gynecology.

“It is a great source of pride for all of us here to once again be named one of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals,” said George B. Hernández Jr., president and CEO of University Health System.
According to the news release, only 153 hospitals received at least one national top 50 ranking in any specialty.
U.S. News evaluated 5,000 hospitals nationwide for its ranking and uses patient survival, infection rates, adequacy of nursing staff and number of times a procedure is performed as part of its ranking.
Baptist Healthcare System and Christus Santa Rosa Healthcare System were also regionally ranked.
