Hoping to prove a new hatchback is family-friendly, Hyundai let 40 curious baboons loose inside.

The creatures are used to cars at Britain's Knowsley Safari Park. They often pull off windshield wipers and mirrors. They've been known to rip off license plates, then ride around on them like skateboards. Hyundai decided the baboons would be able to put the car through a series of tests.

"The i30 is a family car, which means that children and adults put it through its paces on a daily basis," said Felicity Wood, i30 project manager. "We wanted to take it one step further and let some real cheeky monkeys loose in the car."

With cameras rolling inside the car, the baboons gave it their best – gnawing on the steering wheel and seats. They pulled at parts and punched the car.

In the end, the car looked no worse than if a family had taken a really messy road trip.
