15-year-old shot, killed in accidental shooting on SW Side

SAN ANTONIOUPDATE: A 15-year-old boy has died as a result of an accidental shooting on SW Side, San Antonio police said Friday.

According to police, the teen was accidentally shot around 4:45 a.m. while sitting in the living room of a home in the 6200 block of Big Valley Drive.

Officials said all the witnesses were cooperative following the shooting and directed officers to the weapon.

At this time, the name of the victim has yet to be released.

A teenager has been taken to the hospital following an accidental shooting at a home on the city's Southwest Side.

The shooting was reported around 4:45 a.m. in the 6200 block of Big Valley Drive, located not far from Loop 410 and Ray Ellison Boulevard.

According to police, a 15-year-old boy was shot in his arm and the bullet went through his chest. Two adults and one other teen were inside the house at the time of the shooting.

Police said someone inside must have picked up the gun and it went off accidentally. All were in the living room at the time. Authorities say they have the gun and everyone is cooperating.

Officials said they do believe the shooting was an accident. A sergeant at the scene tells KSAT 12, "Right now. He is seriously injured."
