SAN ANTONIO – A potential deal between the city of San Antonio and Southwest Airlines would mean expansion and jobs for the Alamo city.

The proposal would give the Dallas-based carrier hundreds of thousand of dollars in tax breaks over the next decade.

In return for that financial incentive, the airline would build a new customer service center on the Northeast side of the and hire more than 300 people.

San Antonio mayor Julian Castro said the deal is a good one for both parties.

"We're looking forward to the new jobs, putting people to work, moving in the right direction," Castro said. "I really think we've been blessed the last couple of years in our city to create economic opportunities. And Southwest Airlines is a great company to partner with to do it."

The proposed deal will be voted on by the city council on Thursday.
