San Antonio boy drowns in Guadalupe River after collision

Victim identified as 12-year-old Reed Kelley of San Antonio

GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas – A San Antonio boy drowned in the Lake Dunlap area of the Guadalupe River Saturday afternoon. The victim was identified by Texas wildlife officials as 12-year-old Reed Kelley.

The Seguin Gazette reported Kelley was at a party swimming in the river below a slide that fed into the water.

Another child who was playing at the top of the slide was reportedly pushed down and slid into Kelley, according to the article.

Other children pulled the boy who was pushed down the slide out of the water, but apparently did not realize Kelley was in the water as well. They noticed Kelley had not been seen and later pulled his body out of the water.

Kelley was taken to the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
