Davis had failed to pick his son up after school and school officials called his aunt who picked him up and brought him home.
"That's when they found the victim lying there dead," said SAPD Sergeant Gary Pelfrey.
Davis was found in an upstairs bedroom that appeared in disarray. Police said she had several lacerations.
"No one was home with the victim at the time," said Pelfrey. "Right now, we're going from no one's seen the victim since very early this morning."
During their investigation, a man in a tan colored Suburban drove up on a nearby road and appeared to say something that interested police.
Police pursued the man but were not able to track him down. They are calling him a person of interest and hope to find him soon to ask him questions about Davis' death.
