Man arrested in police car theft

SAPD: Andrew Davila, 40, charged with theft of a vehicle charge

The man wanted by police on charges of stealing a San Antonio police cruiser on Monday was arrested on Thursday.

Andrew Davila, 40, was arrested without incident, a San Antonio police spokesman said.

While in custody on Monday, Davila managed to slip through the partition in the patrol car and take off.

The cruiser was found, but Davila had fled.

"I'm pleased that officers found him," said San Antonio police Chief William McManus. "He had three felony warrants, so you get a guy with three felony warrants off the street and that's a less chance (for him) to commit more criminal offenses."

Police were able to locate Davila after a tip came into Crime Stoppers.

He will now be facing a theft of a vehicle charge.
