Police: Pedestrian struck by alleged DWI driver

SAPD: Man arrested for DWI; pedestrian listed in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his late 20s was hospitalized in critical condition after he was struck by a car early Saturday morning.

The accident happened around 3 a.m as the pedestrian was crossing the bridge at West Commerce and Frio street.

The driver of the car did not see the man and struck him. San Antonio police responded and arrested the driver on suspicion of DWI.

Police said the driver was not expected to face charges for hitting the pedestrian because the accident was considered to be unavoidable.

The pedestrian was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.
