Lightning strike sparks fire at South Side apartment complex

Fire took place at Rosemont at Palo Alto apartments

SAN ANTONIO – A lightning strike is to blame for a fire that broke out at the Rosemont at Palo Alto apartments Friday night.

Investigators initially said an electrical short caused flames to erupt in the 10000 block of State Highway 16 just after 11:30 p.m.

After further investigation, they determined the fire was caused by a lightning strike.

Residents were temporarily evacuated as fire crews put out the blaze. 

There is no word on how much damage the fire caused.

No one was injured.
