SAPD: West Side shooting victim had large load of heroin, cash on him

SAN ANTONIO – Joshua Robert Garza, 31, the man who was shot dead in his driveway on the near West Side, had a large amount of heroin and cash on him at the time, according to San Antonio police.

Information released by the San Antonio Police Department's media relations office stated that the drugs and money were discovered after Garza was taken to a hospital.

He suffered a gunshot wound to his neck while standing outside his home near Delgado and Navidad streets around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Garza died overnight.

On Thursday morning, blood still covered the driveway where he was shot.

The case remains unsolved. Police said the shooter got away, and there were no witnesses to the shooting.

Neighbors said they didn't know much about Garza because he had moved into the neighborhood recently.
